I'm sorry for your loss, CM. My mother passed last June. I know what you're going through.

I'm terribly sorry for your loss. As for your question a plain black tie is a good idea after that whatever you would normally wear is fine.

My deepest sympathies, wear what would make your Mom happy. when my Mom passed everyone thought I was dressed a little too colorful, until I told them I was celebrating my Moms life and that she had asked me to wear our Tartan.

My sincere condolences on the loss of your mother - this is something we all have to suffer at some times in our lives, but that does not make it easier.
Under the circumstances, whilst I stick with the suggestion I made earlier, I would opt for dark hose with regular tartan flashes and, of course, the black tie.
Take care,
Ham.

Sad times Medic,
Don't know if this helps any. Pre-kilt, I wore a very bright yellow Hawaiian shirt to my little brother's funeral to celebrate his life.
My mother didn't have a funeral, but at the wake celebrating her life, before we scattered her ashes at sea last January, I wore her Scott clan tartan in her honor.

I don't much like how I look in this pic, not sure why I chose white. Don't recall. And, them's my grans. Was at my other brother's place in Oceanside, CA. About thirty kin gathered from four generations. I'd guess most were dressed "churchy casual."
Bottom line, don't think it much matters. Everyone dresses the way they think fit for themselves and if there are any funeral fashion critics they'd be sick puppies.

My condolences to you and your family. We are having a memorial celebration this weekend for my father who died in December. I will be wearing black Argyle, tie and flashes, mainly because that's what I have. I've been using the solid color knit garters from Matt Newsome's online store (I think they're much more comfortable than the elastic variety) and black is the only color I own so far.

My sympathy to you and your family for your loss. I knew nothing of kilts 22 years ago when I lost my mother. I'm sure that if I did, I would have worn my family tartan at her funeral also. Our thoughts are with you.
