My local liquor (high-end, that is) sells lots of Scotch. Never had a problem finding something I wanted...except the Isle of Arran's Burns Malt.

I haven't had much trouble finding good whisky (including Ardbeg). There are two liquor stores near me that specialize in scotch. I recently visited one of them to buy a bottle of Laphroig quarter cask. Unfortunately, they didn't stock it at the time, but they did order it for me. I had it in less than two weeks. The proprietor liked the quarter cask so much he now keeps it in stock. What I'm getting at is that it's not hard to find a liquor store that will order a whisky that they don't normally carry.

Mea Culpa...Mea Culpa.... Sorry, but mah sensitivities wuh offended!!! The modicum of states rights still extant mean that there are widely varying differences among the states. Here in Jawja we still enjoy a considerable selection of Scottish, Irish, and even Welsh Whisky, single malt and otherwise. However, there are many an incredibly fine southern bourbons and sour mash as well, as opposed to those nawthun distillations of lesser spirits.

Be glad you aren't moving to Virginia. All of the liquor stores are state owned.
