Denim Kilt
I have the blue denim kilt from Kilt Store and I love it. Trendy with the orange stitching. I wore it London on a very wet day last Juneand it kept me warm and Cary. It creases very easily but when ironed the pleats are razor sharp. And it looks terrific !

The Denim from Sport Kilt may be my next kilt. I am thinking about the Commando model.

I'd be interested in a review of SportKilt's denim kilt.

I'll make your life a little easier. I'm probably already off your short list, because of the cost. If not, I will give you another reason to take me off your list.
I prefer the hemp to denim as it handles better, more swish, better durability, wrinkles less, and is softer. This comes at a cost, yes, but gives a better product in my opinion.
Both Steve and I, as well as Pete, use more fabric in our kilts. More pleats (less wrinkles better fit).
Much success in the search for a fine denim kilt.
Cheers
Robert

I also love my UK denim and I've been wearing it a lot.
If price wasn't a factor at all I'd love to own a few 21st Century denim kilts. I saw them when they were her in NY for Tartan week and it's really a fantastic product.

So, I looked into the practikilt, and in addition to being obvious knock offs of utilikilts they are also paper thin, poorly designed, and only come in a 21" length (nice as I think I'd look in a minikilt, I think I'll pass). So it's no wonder they aren't mentioned very often.
I'm really starting to kick myself for not ordering a denim Alphakilt in addition to the polycotton, as I could have gotten it wholesale. Of course, I didn't know at the time that I would want a denim kilt. And I didn't think I'd have the money. But still... In any case, I certainly won't be ordering another one from them until after I have the first one and can judge it myself.
I checked into union kilts, and they still have the light blue on the site with the closeout sale, but they are out of stock, so I 'm guessing that won't be an option. That's unfortunate as the exchange rate (and international shipping no doubt) makes the other denims far less competitive.
I'm conflicted when it comes to the utilikilt. On the one hand, I've heard nothing but good things from those who have them. On the other hand, I have trouble justifying the expense (particularly after the "fat bastard tax") when what I have always wanted is that black UK workman's, which is not that much more expensive. Of course, if the next best alternative is nearly the same price, I could probably get over it, it would just annoy me.
Alt kilt is fairly cheap compared to the others, but I'm not sure about the look. Maybe it's just the fact that the picture they have seems to show it on a female dummy, I don't know. Even so, she seems to be very open to custom jobs. Definitely worth considering.
I also just realized I could try a denim x-kilt. It'll be quite a while before I have the time, but my best friend just got a new sewing machine, so if I can finagle some time with that, it should be a lot easier. Granted, it would feel a little weird sewing a kilt with a hello kitty sewing machine, but if it saves me $100, I think I can live with that.

It really all depends on what you want in a denim kilt. You have to consider fit too. Do you want off the rack or custom made. All factors come into play when it comes to the finished product and can affect the price. It all come down to what you want in a kilt
If you want contemporary utility style go with Rkilts. You get custom made, not off the rack that will justify the extra cost and the hemp is sturdy but soft to the touch.
If your looking for custom made in a more traditional style CCK makes them. He has a few colours of denim he uses.

I unfortunately don't have a lot to add. I only own one denim, a Utilikilt. However, I wear it a lot. I own 2 Utilikilts (the denim and a beat up workmans) and 2 X-kilts but no sporran and no pockets on the X-kilts (never got around to adding them). So the denim is my go to kilt. I love it.
I would agree that it curls less, not more than my workmans (however the workmans is old and soft, so that may be the reason). I did have a problem with it rolling ( the bottom hem, going up). I figured out a work around, I wash it with fabric softener and then lay it out flat with all of the pleats flat. It's not fast but seems to work and no ironing.
