    Looks Great!

One minor digression: How well do the hose ties work compared to flashes? I have a large calf and the flashes are at their limit.

Thanks Jay, no, I didn't know that about the kilt pin design. But then I'm probably the only E-1 with an Honorable Discharge...

And hey, new Robert E. Lee (reverent pause of respect) avatar guy...I'm lovin the traditional garter ties. You can see my ham hocks in my pics. I wear my flash elastic maxed out and its still snug. The garter ties have stretch in them. At first I didn't really believe they stayed up, but they do. At first just did a single tie and let the folded over hose hold things in place. They worked fine. Then followed Matt's experiment of tieing them once and tucking them under the original turn. Works even better.

I only have the red, white, and black...more to buy yet...but they're very versatile in color matching too.

Hey, I'm glad you explained that. I tried an overhand knot based on Matt's passing mention of this other method and it didn't work too well. I'll try tucking the ends under the first wrap and see how that goes.

I too have the woven ties and they work great. The only time my hose slip is when I kneel down alot. Unless the garters are real tight, my calves seem to push the hose top down each time and eventually they end up 6" too low.

    Thanks folks,

I put the Rest in Peace across the chevrons both in my brother's honor, but also so the chevrons wouldn't be mistaken as earned by me - which they weren't. The back of the jacket has that large USMC logo. The patches honor my brother's service with USMC Aviation up at El Torro (think its gone to red tile roofs now) and later as a Drill Instructor in San Diego. He was probably about 12 or 13 when I was in briefly. Guess he must have looked up to the Corps since he put in ten years before he died. Obviously that is one reason I was standing tall today.

But the swish of a fine hand sewn kilt sure lifted my spirits today too. I work with a guy who's always saying, "Life is good." Well, with a fine hand sewn kilt wrapped around ya life is really really good.
