Appearantly the Standing Council has been following the progress of X Marks and are impressed with our feeling of family and belonging which are the hallmarks of the definition of Clan.
Interesting thought indeed. I'm seeing myself as the first internet Chieftain of the first internet Clan... Voting won't be necessary, just confirm your allegience to me .

Grant,
Sorry to rain on your rubber chicken.....
The first Chief of Clan X-Marks is the duly recognized Hank. For not for Hank's insight XMTS would not be. All hail Chief Highlandtide.
We have a true family in the Clan sense in the loyalty and sharing amongst each other freely and without reservation. This is obvious in the willingness of some to donate to the needs of others in the Clan, and usually quite anonymously. We certainly have a Chief's Council, made up of the Administrator(s), House Chairpersons, and the Moderators.
Whereas the Moderators act as council to all of us on the Forum. The Chief's Command is in the tradition of the early clan.
If there is a Chief's Commissioner of Clan X-Marks, it should probably fall on our Quartermaster Steve Ashton for so ably insuring that the clan is properly outfitted in tartan, and insignia.
As I have a relative that is a professor of Scot history to listen to at our family gatherings...

I shall never bow a knee to "He who shames a poor defenseless chicken".
Nor to he who abducted and impersonated "The Wizard of BC".
You shall have to recruit your minions from a shallower pool who know not your villainous and evil ways.

Yes, I thought the piece was going to be about the xmarks clan too.
Though it is certainly true that it is thanks to the internet that I have been able to do ancestry research and discover more family names in my ancestry whose tartans I now wear.
Good idea about having xmarks formally recognised.

He should go hunting in the Newbie Forum. For they know not the ways of the evil chicken sporran, and can be easily swayed by the dark side.

Errr, would that make those of us of non-Caledonian ancestry honorary Scotsmen or something?
