This Past weekend was my second Games competing in Novice. And For the first time I fliped the caber. It landed @ 1:30 So practice does pay off. So the next games I am in I going up to C class since I was throwing c numbers most of the day. Thought I would share the good news with everyone.

Congratulations! Arizona Scot and I have been practicing together as well, but like he said we've yet to find a caber to even practice with. I look forward to my first turning once we get one.

If I am able, I'll be competing for the first time in November in Tuscon with Arizona Scot.

Get a 12 foot 6 x 6. Cut off the corners so that the thing is kind of an octagon in cross section instead of a square. Attack one end with a belt sander and surform plane. Round it off bigtime and taaper the bottom 4 feet. This is one afternoons work for two guys.

voila....practice caber. Is it exactly like a real caber? No. Is it close enough to give you the feel of it? Yes? Cost? About $35

That's a dang good idea. I might just go and get one this weekend from home depot and have it ready by next Monday's practice.

Thanks Alan! I had heard of the similiar method, but I didn't realize it wouldn't cost that much. I'll give it try, and I'll document it with pictures just because.
