Having lost weight myself after decades of diets that didn't work, I know the thrill of seeing the changes happen. Ain't it just the best feeling to start the day with?
For me the best part was taking a scalpel and cutting the stitches on a kilt waistband that had to be made smaller - I've lost 12 inches off my waist from when I decided to wear my own made kilts. (The power of the kilt?)
BMI is not actually all that important to an individuals well being, percentage fat and - possibly - waist measurement, (but really only relative to what it once was), are the things to track to judge your progress particulalry if you increase lean weight.
I'm not 'up' on weightloss surgery. Is the gastric bypass reversed once you no longer need to lose weight or is it a permanent thing?
As of this morning I weigh almost exactly the same as you, but still have a long way to go to be in the 'normal' range - as I am almost a foot shorter than you - see? not over weight but under tall. So far so good though.

BMI for tall people
Congratulations. I know what you mean about not
shooting for a "normal" BMI. I'm a bit over 6'4" and
a while back I got down to 190 lbs. My doctor said
that was too low, should be over 200. I'm at 240 now
and am trying to lose 10 or so pounds.

Great job! I know (not personally,) how tough it is to lose the weight and especially to keep it off. It takes a lot of life-style changing.
I kind of envy you guys in a way however. I can't add weight to save my life. I've been between 160-180 my entire life, and I'll stay around that weight. Short of becoming a professional body builder, no amount of working out will gain a significant amount of muscle mass. It just continues to lean out what fat I do have and keep the muscle lean and trim.
My dad was 6' tall and weighed 145 lbs at his death. Luckily I got some of the bigger genes from my mom's side and I'm a big broader but slightly shorter.

Great job! I know your energy level is better, blood pressure lower, joint pain better, snoring better, etc. Keep up the good work.
