That fabric is beautiful. Looks like it holds a pleat very well. Nice spirit in the pics.
"Before two notes of the theme were played, Colin knew it was Patrick Mor MacCrimmon's 'Lament for the Children'...Sad seven times--ah, Patrick MacCrimmon of the seven dead sons....'It's a hard tune, that', said old Angus. Hard on the piper; hard on them all; hard on the world." Butcher's Broom, by Neil Gunn, 1994 Walker & Co, NY, p. 397-8.

I think that puts the Panache Pink into the shade! Glad you had a good time.

Derek has a point! A kilt like that could be my No.91 (92,93,94 or 95 - I have plans!).
What a stunner! Congratulations Paul. Where on earth do you find fabric like that?
I was sorry not to have made it into Brighton for 'Pride' on Saturday - according to our local BBC radio, it was a resounding success, in spite of the weather. Did you get to see Richard and Oliver from Union Kilts?
Take care,
Ham.
[PS: I wondered what the orange glow in the sky over Brighton way was - I thought it might have been he sunset but then realised that it was east-south-east of here, not west!!]

Thank you everyone for the kind comments, I had lots of nice comments there as well!
The parade started off in the rain but by the time we walked to Preston Park it had dried up and the sun was out, so who says that it only shines on the good!!
The denim came from Borowicks in Soho, I;m sure we've mentioned them before, a positive haven of unusual fabrics, Ibought it a few months ago, and for a long time I wasn't sure if I had the nerve to make a kilt out of it, as on the bolt , it was SO bright!
The kilt has 20 pleats with a high waist ,traditional styled, but with a pocket on the edge of the under apron, just behind the fringe. I didn't cut away the inside of the pleats ( I seldom do on a contemporary one) but it does have a good firm feeling akin to a back support, but that was good on Saturday as I was on my feet almost all day!
We ended up on the beach with fish and chips, but this year we didn't go skinny-dipping, as we thought the combination of the cold and the wind were just too much!
Let me know Hamish, and I'll see if they have have any left!! and I;ll add it too the bottle of Woolite!!

Hi Paul,
I had quite forgotten about Borowicks fabric shop in Berwick Street - I used to go there frequently back in the 60's when I was responsible for the window displays at our Jermyn Street perfumery. Many thanks for the kind offer but in a couple of weeks I am going up to London for an interview and will make a point of making a nostalgic return visit to Soho.
Take care,
Ham.

That's certainly eye-catching and it looks like you made a nice job of it.

That is really a COOL kilt. You were really thinking outside of the box when you came up with it. I never cease to be amazed at peoples imaginations for creativity!
What kind of kilt pin is that?? It looks cool too.
Cheers, Leslie
