Thanks for posting some pics of the WPBC!!!
I would love to go back to this event at some stage, as it's been a while.
I used to play in a pipe band many years ago, and we actually won 6th place in Grade 2,...6th might not seem like much, but Grade 2 is a high grade in Pipe band contests.
These championships used to be held in Bellahuston park (not sure about spelling),..but if i remember right, there was an old mine shaft below, and they were afraid of it giving way under the weight of a masses of people.
I think it's held in Glasow Green now.
The Cowal games at Dunoon is also a great event.

    Thanks for sharing the photos.

    Neil.

PS: It's a shame almost no Pipe bands wear their full Highland dress at these contests anymore, i do realise that they can be cumbersome etc, but they really are a treat to behold.

Man, have you worn those things?? I agree they look awesome, but damn they are a pain to 1) put on 2) move around in and 3) play in.

I most certainly have, feather bonnet and all (ok, i'll admit i was a drummer, and only had a drummer's shawl, and not the full pipers' shawl), and yes, it might take a while to put all the accoutrements of the uniform together, but when you are wearing the full Highland Dress, you know you're wearing a uniform.
This is not to take away from the Evening dress uniforms worn today by most bands, (i also wore this, in the same band), it is also a very smart uniform, but i just love that Full Highland dress!!!!
One aspect i really loved about the full dress, was the spats,................brilliant white spats against black polished brogues,........ahhhhhh...sheer class.

A suit of armor would be more comfortable.
