Sort of a two-week reminder that Chicago Celtic Fest is September 13 and 14...it looks like they're forgoing the usual Friday evening preview concert at the Cultural Center...there's a preview at noon Friday at the Daley center. If they do end up doing the Friday evening thing, I'll let everyone know.

Okay, guys, I've decided to make this the occasion for my grand return to the Windy City after number of years since my last visit. (Let's just say that a certain tricky guy was in the White House then. )
I'd love to join you for the activities, but certainly can't say I know my way around, so advice for locating spots would be appreciated.

Okay...Chicago (Un-official) Department of Tourism here...

...just get to the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Jackson Drive and walk East. The Celtic Crossroads stage is right at the end of Jackson before it gets to Lake Shore Drive and the big stage is at the Petrillo Bandshell which is about on the Southwest corner of Jackson and Columbus.
Just remember THE single most important thing to know about Chicago geography:
THE LAKE IS ALWAYS EAST!
...we'll be the guys in the kilts with the pints in our hands...

...I would also like to add that the intersection of Michigan and Jackson is the starting point of old Route 66...just so's ya know dat.

I think Brewboy's offer of his condo as a gathering place is great. Especially since we don't have Glen's tent (as at the St. Andrew's Highland Games). Who is coming?

I'll try to come. I just need to find a car! Also, don't forget the Wisconsin Highland Games this weekend in Milwaukee!

Greg,
This is the first I've heard of the Milwaukee games. When are you planning to be there? I might drive up. Was there an Xmarks thread on this?

I can't make the Wisconsin Games, too bad.
Celtic Fest starts at 11:00 a.m. on both days. When do you all want to meet to head over? I propose coffee and breakfast at my place before the rabble descends upon Grant Park.

We have a backpacking training weekend for our upcoming Philmont trek the 13th and 14th or Mrs. Standard and I would certainly be there. Hope you all have fun, and have a pint for me.
