    That is what I was thinking also, I would also hazard a guess that the sporran is a brown hunter style leather sporran that I've seen him wear often.

    The Duke was Colonel-in-Chief of the Gordons before their amalgamation with the Queen's Own Highlanders (Seaforths & Camerons) in 1994.

    Given that tartans are usually a big riot of colors anyway, it is probably a good idea for the average kiltie to stick by the customary rules of thumb. Except for the blue shirt and tie in the Duke's ensemble, there is not much of a riot - perhaps a mere scuffle - but had I been there to lay out His Royal Clothes that morning, I probably would have given him brown shoes.

    Agreed, but I don't think he would have to have gone with brown accessories because Chef has said black was acceptable as day wear.

    With the blue shirt/tie and the green, I would think the brown would have a warmer tone, though. Maybe the Duke was having mixed feelings that day...
