Tentative date is March 7th. She did rule out me wearing a kilt in the ceremony. I told her I may have some kilted friends there and she said that was cool.

March 7th is a GREAT date--My wife had a weak moment on March 7th, 1992 when she did me the honor of marrying me ;-)
As for kilts and costs--ugh brother-- it's HER day, so its cool she's ok with some showing up in kilts.
I did my father-in-law a favor--I got the hall (VFW and my family cooked) he bought the booze. We basically split the costs 3 ways (both sets of parents and us) and we had a great 3 day party.
Best of luck! You must be very proud!

Congrats! Well it sounds like you like the guy, or at least can tolerate him. I don't even want to think about my daughter getting married, or dating. at least she is only 3 so I have a long way to go. Anyway, hope all the happiness in the world to the engaged couple! Also good luck with the planning/paying!

I am VERY proud of her. March 7th is good, but it's close to March 11th, which was my aniversary with her mother. That didn't work as well. Ironically, the 11th was my daughter and her boyfriends "anniversary" of when they started dating as well.
And, yeah, I KNOW it's her day and wouldn't have it any other way. I'll pretty much pay for everything but she's already talking about what she's doing to keep it from getting too expensive. ![Very Happy](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

He is a good guy. (Much better than some she dated ) Comes from a good family, has a good job, very smart-Obviously! He's marrying my daughter!! ![Very Happy](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
I've always been very protective of her and never acted to enthused about her boyfriends. So everyone is asking how I'm handling this. It's pretty funny actually. I guess they all think I'm going to kick his *** or something for proposing.

Congratulations!
As far as the wedding, remember that it's not about how fancy or how much stuff you buy, it's about their love, and no matter how big or small the wedding is, they'll still be in love with each other.

I have to admit he's a very nice guy and will make an excellent husband and son-in-law. Now I have to figure out how to pay for a wedding.
Anyone need a kidney?
brilliant, how much for the kidney? i may need another "spare" in the foreseeable future...

Congratulations! Remember that a small wedding can be as memorable as a large one, but the best idea is to just smile, nod and help her to have a special day. On a side note my daughter (17) has already asked me to wear the kilt at her wedding whenever that may be.
