"it's a Wonderful Life" and "Miracle on 34th Street" are not on my fave list (i never liked and probably never will) Love "The Christmas Story" in my family too it is a tradition. Also like "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas" There are two more that you don't see very often, but i really love them. One is "An American Christmas Carol" with Henry Winkler and "A Christmas Memory" written and narrated by Truman Capote. Both are excellent productions and turn up occasional on channels like TCM or PBS.
I also love "The Polar Express" - both the movie and the book. For many years I would give the book to one of friends that needed to be reminded to let the magic of Christmas back into their lives. I got a Xmas card from one of the recipients (given about a dozen years ago) and he tells me that reading the book has become a tradition with his family on Christmas Eve.

Jean Shepherd
btw, for all of "A Christmas Story" fans, the previous director of our library grew up on the same street as Jean Shepherd in Hammond, Indiana -- she even remembered the Bumpas's smelly hound-dogs!

My five favorite Christmas Movies
A Christmas Carol with Patrick Stewart
The Bishop's Wife with Cary Grant and David Niven
Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol (the first animated holiday special ever put on the networks!)
How the Grinch Stole Christmas
March of the Wooden Soldiers with Laurel and Hardy
For the record, I can still hear the ring of the bell!
Cheers

Every year I watch White Christmas—if you live in Spokane it's required for citizenship (Bing Crosby was from Spokane and Gonzaga University get royalties from the title song). It's such a wonderful movie and does express the Christmas spirit.

Very year on Christmas eve we all gather and watch "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation". Not one of your typical Christmas stories, but a tradition for us none-the-less.
Hmm..... I wonder how cousin Eddie would look in a kilt?

I'm right there with you. Well, with the watching White Christmas part anyway. (Never lived anywhere remotely near Spokane)
All time favorite scene: Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye singing "sisters". Has me in stitches every time!
