Besides, most of my kilts are pleated to stripe (or to "no stripe") and it's time to introduce some variety into the collection!
Thanks. Yeah - it was my first tartan kilt DIY and I went for the easier path (pleat to stripe). I have yet to knife-pleat to sett. (It seems intimidating).
I have at least box-pleated to sett.

That Gray Stewart really turned out nice, I may have to add the tartan to my ever growing never ending wish list.

Yet another gorgeous tartan, and kilt. I never cease to marvel at the beauty and beautiful workmanship displayed on this forum.
Okay, how long do I have to wait after my last kilt gets finished (I still have three in the queue to be made) before I can start shopping for some grey stewart fabric?

Just long enough to put your new kilt on!
Nice looking kilt.

I did the light grey(as we have discussed) for the same reason, and I'm really glad I did that one first.

Pleats are done, though I might re-do one of the first one or two. Once again, the more pleats I do, the better they get and the ones I did at the beginning (left side) aren't as good as the ones at the end (right side). However, this pleating to sett has worked out very nicely. I've already re-done 4 of them, what's one more?
I did all the pleats at my In-Laws house, in between shuttling dad back and forth, getting things for mom to drink, running errands and so on during moms last days. On impulse, I raided her sewing stash on Wednesday, and I'm sewing it all up with moms thread. I think I will think of her when I wear it, and that will be a good thing.
I told her that I loved her, today, and I got a little smile and she squeezed my hand. I'm going to try to work that smile into this kilt. Yes, the fabric is a bit lightweight, but it's still going to be a nice bit of kit.

Having thought a lot about parents lately, my thoughts are with you Alan, work those memories in where you can.

put in the "anti-stretch" waistband today... and mostly got in the "appearrances" waistband but I'm gonna have to hand-sew parts of it. grrrr. I also stitched in the reverse pleat and put in the hair canvas that lies under the over-apron.
