    Actually it was the Canadians in 1812 and if i remember correctly they only scorched it. In the Mythology that's why it is white to cover the burns.....

    A lot of "non-celtic" parades have pipe bands in them, and for good reason. It makes people like me want to tolerate the rest of the floats, Jr. HS marching bands, clowns on motorcycles, etc to see and hear some great music, albeit for about 75 seconds.
