Scotty,
Tweed IS wool! It also comes in different weights rather like the tartan fabrics we all know and love. So, to answer your question: yes, they hold their pleats as well as any tartan kilt, but the heavier (or thicker) ones may not have pleats quite as sharp as others.
I have six tweed kilts which I wear and love as much as any of my tartan ones.
Take care,
Ham.

Congratulations. Sounds very nice.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Ah, the long awaited photos of the new kilt. Sorry that it took so long, my wife just got the photos downloaded for me from her camera.
First a picture of the pleats:

Then a piccie of the kilt being worn at our local Burns evening this past Saturday alongside the only other kiltie that I know in my hometown:

I just realised that I don't have any really good pictures of the pleats being worn. However it is the same tweed as PDCorlis was wearing in this thread: http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/r...930/index.html
Again, Rocky did a wonderful job on my new kilt. The fit and feel are great, and I've already gotten a lot of nice compliments about it.

Oh! I saw that same picture in the Burns Supper thread that you posted.
And without reading about it (and this thread) -- seeing it, I thought to myself --- wow, what a gorgeous kilt!!! Congratulations! The aran sweater is awesome too! Phil, I remember seeing your picture in that kilt -- awesome!
