Ted,
I know you use a lot of tactile aids in your home. Here are some neat ways to add some more and show a little splash of Tartan to your home and Garden.
If you have any lamps with the little pull chain tie one to the end of the chain to make it easy to find.
Or, if you have a ceiling fan with more than one pull chain put one flash on the on-off chain so you can tell which one it is.
Tie them to the clapper of your wind chimes to catch the wind.
Put a pair on the antenna of a car.
Put one on the zipper tab of a jacket or backpack or on a velcroed pocket flap to aid in opening.
If you need a tactile aid on a switch or push button control, add a spot of velcro...points up = on,,,points down = off.
If you have two cans, bottles, or jars that are the same size and shape a flash on one will help to identify which is which. Such as in the garden to identify containers with poisons.

Thanks, Wizard, those are good suggestions. I guess I could also put part of one on a watch fob/key chain.
On a side note, I can definatly tell now that my kilt will require steeking. Some time later this year, when I get up the nerv, I will start working on that kilt again.

I like to mix it up, sometimes the tartan flashes work better with my hose than the solid colors I have, it all depends on the mood really.

Oh, I kind of like the idea of fringed ends on garter ties; like little scarves. Meinfs has been making garter ties that sound interesting; their not just flat.
Anyway, it looks like I don the kilt about every four months, so I'm not in any hurry. I've been looking through my box of fabric pieces for something to make flashes, and there are several scraps of blue jean material. That might work for blue.
I thought about making flashes from corduroy that was left over after that jacket conversion... But I think I will save that in case the jacket needs repair some day.
Most of the other fabric scraps aren't really the right material for flashes.

On the other hand, all sewing projects are going to have to wait a while because I have several ceramic sculptures to make first. For some reason it doesn't work out to have a sewing project going at the same time as a sculpture.
I might end up just buying garter ties and not worrying about it.

How about a handmade ribbon on a wrapped gift, along with a matching color ribbon would look very nice.
Another option would be to use them with napkin rings, they would add a splash of color on the dinner table.

I had another thought. How about using the flashes around candles as decor? would look nice on a properly set table.

Hmm... what to do with flashes...
How bout tooth picks, use the points of the flashes to clean your teeth.
Or, on your car's antenna
How bout on your gas cap.. piper in your tank...
Run it up your flagpole and celebrate tartan day...

All good suggestions; especially the tooth pick one, Wally...
However, there are a couple of problems.
I don't have... a dinner table. Also single and live alone, so really no reason to have fancy dinner decorations.
Next, I don't have a car, and well... don't drive. Which is probably a good thing.
But thanks for the suggestions, in case someone else can use them.
