Cavscout, what exactly is PV? does it wear like wool? I own 9 kilts all are wool but 1 it is ripstop digicamo. I am interested in a Red Fraser but will it be noticeably different from Wool? Have you gotten a price quote yet?

I've not heard back from them yet. A bit of a jones going here as this is for a project for our new baby due in May.
PV or Poly / Viscose is essentially rayon or polyester (I can't keep it straight). A lot of USA Kilts kilts are made from it and Freedom Kilts and several other kiltmakers use it for their casuals. It's machine washable and wears as close to wool as those guys have found.
Here's a comparison chart Steve Ashton put together I believe.

It is noticeably different if you know what you are looking at but I've worn mine and the general populace doesn't know the difference.

Scotchmaster, if you are interested in getting some of the Fraser Red in PV let's talk. Maybe a little bigger order will get a response.

It's a 65/35 blend of polyester and rayon, except Rayon(r) is a Dupont trade-mark and viscose is the generic term. See also the current thread on General Kilt Talk. Scotchmaster, do you know anyone who has a USA Kilts semi-trad? That is the good, Marton Mills PV.
It's washable, stain-resistant, has a nice twill weave and is just generally wonderful stuff. It's about 11 ounce weight, just heavy enough to be kilt-worthy and great for the summer. I have 3 of Rocky's semi-trads, which share the place of honor in my closet with my 13-ounce hand-sewn.
If this all does not work out, you can get the MM fabric through Scotweb, Celtic Croft, ...

Great news sir (and a belated congrats on the new addition to your family!)

I would be interested to know the cost too as I have plans to make a kilt for the same reason as you.
