Georgeblack7 nailed it. It's because Texas, Arizona, and Georgia (in the USA) were the first places to respond. No need to look for hidden meanings-- like Freud said: "Sometime a cigar is just a cigar".

I took it to mean that he was just seeking a local opinion--other than Howie's.

The problem with your statement isn't geography, it's your reference to "kilt police". Uncalled for and unappreciated.

There are Sikhs in Scotland who do wear tartan in honour of their adopted homeland -- Lord Singh, for example, had the works of Burns translated into Punjabi and designed tartans for Sikh children to wear to be proud of their home.

Are kilts for tots traditional or non-traditional? I mean that maybe this post should be in contemporary kilts.
I thought that the article was descriptive and journalistic.
The headline however was intentionally judgmental. A provocation?
A provocation for yet another feeding-frenzy bashing of GB.
And response by defenders.
To his credit the original poster only said that he found it interesting.
Nice to see that the IoS business-to-business legal issue was settled.
Settled.
Not here I’ll wager.
At the moment I’m wearing a GB Casual kilt (HoS).
To me it has more than acceptable fit, comfort, value, and utility -- for those who like it; and for those who don’t like it.
I understood the Kilt Police comment in that way. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Hardeep Singh, a BBC broadcaster wears, a kilt as well as his turban and it goes fine.
Besides which it's possible to wear a tartan turban.
