It really does make a difference what the demographics of your area are, although educational level seems to be even more important. The only times someone's ever tried to mock me resulted in them getting shushed by their friends who said things along the lines of "It's a kilt, stupid! It's cool!" (Although I want to reply "No it's not! I'm fairly toasty here!")
I have, however, gotten some odd stares, especially in the local store where I buy polymer, wood, steel, copper, and lead products.

It is a rare day that I am not in a kilt. Comments are infrequent for long periods of time as most of the places I travel are used to seeing men in kilts. I also travel periodically to some rural areas on business. In those areas I do get noticed, but do not get comments directly addressed to me. I have had friends in the area tell me about the grapevine comments at a later time. We both take great humour in them.

if it makes you feel any better, I've never actually seen a man in a kilt outside of TV and parades, and I've been dying to compliment one. So head on over to Utah and I'll compliment you on your wonderful kilt.

Thats is kinda what I was looking to hear. I wear my kilt all the time when I am not at work. I travel all over the US. I really didn't think about it till I started reading all the post on here. When I am out and about I don't pay to much about what is going on around me. I really don't care if people chat with me about my kilts. I just was think why no on ever has said anything to me. I am glad in a way, If no one is saying anything (to me) means that all is well. I guess the question I was try to ask was, " Do you all ever go kilted without any commants?" So the answer, That I am getting from you all is yes most of the time. Right?
I am not upset about not getting commants. I just never thought about it tile last night. I want to thank you all for let me in on your kilt days. Its nice to hear about all the good things people have to say and the smiles most of you give them when they see someone in a kilt.

Thank you Ali. I will be ver your way in Nov. or so. Well that the plan anyway. I am leaving Ga. in a few days and heading to Texas. I will be there for a 3 months or so. Its really and truly not the compliment that I was looking for from people. I kinda like it that way. I just never realise that not one person has ever said anything to me about wearing a kilt.
