The trouble is, that we in Scotland, have had centuries of propaganda,misinformation,half truths, lies and fanciful information dished out by all and sundry that I can well understand people believing what you had said! It would not surprise me one bit.I await to have some unwitting soul giving me this information, er long, whilst I stroll around Scotland. I give it a year.

The reasoning behind this decisions was that Knights of the Garter are allowed to encircle their arms, crest, or badge with the insignia of the Most Noble Order of the Garter -- a buckle and strap similar to that of a clan badge -- and heraldry being what it is, the decision was taken to difference the two by changing the position of the end of the strap on clan badges.
