if common being majority of population then loch-ah-ber is the one to go by ......but if jock scot lives in that area perhaps sticking with the regional varation is the best choice at the end of the day language and dialect are one big game of chinese whispers.

So it's Loch-ah-ber not Loch-AY-ber?
YES nearly, more like LOCH-AAH-BER. NOT EVER loch-Ay-ber.

I do not live too far away, maybe 30 miles or so from Tulloch.I know about them though and they are in a beautiful part of the area.To give you an idea of the area, google Cilllie Choirill and you will find a YouTube section and there are lots of other pictures on the web page too. It is about a beautiful little church(it starred in the "Monarch of the Glen" TV thing) perched high on a hill very close(within a mile maybe) to your estate.Concentrate on the shots down by the river Spean.

Try it like this:
Lock-obber
Rhymes with Lock jobber. And if I remember the accent is on the second syllable.
I only know that because I took the tour at the Aberlour Distillery and learned it was pronounced Obberlauer rather than Abberlauer as I had been mispronouncing it. Love their whisky no matter how you pronounce it though.

None of those! Lochaber is a district(like a small county) in West Inverness-shire centering on Fort William(ish). No doubt if you google Lochaber it will tell you the history.Basically the area name probably pre-dates the county name by many centuries.
