I am new here, but was brought up proud of my ancestry. We hail from a mix of the McDonalds (yes, I know why the "a" is missing) and MacLeods. My father never wore a kilt, but I am proud to do so. Although I am a McDonald, I prefer to wear the MacLeod of Harris due to our mix with them. Mostly wear kilts to festivals and such, but am considering wearing when not at work or sailing.
I have not gone formal yet, mostly casual with my tartan and often a polo style shirt.
Only concern I have of late is there is a great pub locally, that is founded and run by original Brits. I was thinking of stopping by on the way from a festival last weekend and found myself hesitant, since I was not sure of their reaction of a "yank" coming in wearing a kilt.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thank you all, I am so glad I found this forum.
