After reading that sad story I read on through the thread and seeing the amazing support you are getting brought a tear to my eye.
I am not in a position to help at the moment but I am into making hats, though I have nothing in the pipeline at the moment. If he wants something similar to a balmoral, then sometime in the not too distant future I would enjoy making him one.

Hey Guys and Gals-
You know-I have not seen the Captain now in 2 days and am a bit worried. He still has no clue that I'm going to TOTALLy get him on board the kilted army in GGRAND style. Here's what we have so far-
1)-Semi-Traditional Kilt from USA KILT -Black Watch tartan
2.)-A Belt Buckle
I'm handling the sporran for him
The Captain (I want to refrain from using his name completely so it doesn't show up when googled) is very proud of his military career, so I was thinking if anyone has a lead, or an extra No.2 style cut away service jacket, that would be great(Hey Nervous Jock....). If someone has a pair of hose in olive or loden green, that would be great too. An Argyll jacket would be nice if a No.2 can't be had. Does anyone have a line on Tam O Shanters? Not the W P G ones, but the current issue. I was thinking of getting one and stitching a small Iraqi flag on the side instead of a tartan badge backing. ANy ideas on a badge for that matter? Also, flashes are needed and a belt. There has been some atrophy, and I will provide measurements soon. Anyone else have any ideas for this guy? He's really not going to believe it....You can't imagine what htis is gonna mean!!! Thanks to everyone! -Josh

OK here are the Capt.'s measurements-
Hat size : 7 1/8
Coat size (This guy has some serious gun-boats)-46 regular
Kilt has been taken care of-Thank you all who have offered
Shoe size: 11
Hose Size: 9-11
He's getting black watch tartan, so if you have a match for that-It'd be awesome
*NOTE* I am going to sew an Iraqi flag where the tartan badge backing usually is on a military style Tam o shanter (Anyone have an extra/ unused one? Or maybe a source?). His unit was named "Scorpion Task Force" in Iraq, so I'd like to get a scorpion pin as the bonnet badge-Anyone have a source for that? I google "Scorpian pin" and it seems they're al lapel pins..

His legs are still healthy-even after a year and a half!!! I've amended his coat size due to his gunboats & muscle chest (He is a solid 46 Reg.). I bought him one of the WPG Khaki day tunics and MAN it looks sharp. I'm going to put appropriate unit patches on it with his Major Rank (He is now a Major-Not a Capt.) on the lapels. Its gonna look really grand.
Still looking for a brown military style day sporran (Or a swinging six badger ;-) ). Also a Tam o Shanter and a SWK style brown velcro kilt belt Large size. Some Army colored lovat green hose would be cool too..Oh yeah-and some ghillies. Anyone have a size 11 to let go??? Thanks guys-

Ghillies may not be a good idea. Having laces wrapped around his legs may restrict blood flow and cause his legs to swell.
