okay
I am on your side, but I see the costumers point, If I pay that much money I want what I want. Period. Hope he cools off and you can come to an understanding.

You Sir, are correct, and when I do eventually make it to the Scottish Tartans Museum I'll not make that mistake so easily.

As my offspring will confirm - gullability is my middle name, and even I don't believe everything that I see on the internet.
I usually check in at least three places - when I remember, or put up with the consequences when things go wrong.
The kilt as delivered was what was asked for - it is unfortunate that the purchaser was misled by mislabled tartan on another firms website - but with a bit of checking it could have been avoided.
These things happen - but as the buyer got what he asked for I really think that it was his error and he should accept that he made the mistake.
Sure there could have been all sorts of checks and confirmations, but the buyer created the situation by looking at one example of tartan and failing to check that there wasn't an error, then declaring that he wanted modern colours with perfect confidence.
Five minutes on the 'net don't make anyone an expert in anything.

Sad, at least its the correct tartan and he can lay it out in the sun a few years or bury it in a peat bog and obtain the "ancient" colors.
You might get lucky, and he'll grow more attached to it as negotiations proceed and finally decide to accept it as it is. Pretty hard to turn down a custom woven, custom fit kit in your favorite tartan.
Early on in my kilt addiction I ordered a black leather Utilikilt. When it finally arrived it was brown. I was horrified and they were firm I ordered brown. They claimed they never confirmed the order because my email addy was "wrong." It wasn't, and had it been they could have phoned. Best I could figure the radio buttons for color jumped durint the ordering process - Have learned to phone in my kilt orders and not trust Internet gizmos.
Anyhow, the more I looked at the brown leather UK the more I liked it. Today, some four years later, I'm actually happy the error happened and I got the brown leather instead of the black.
Hopefully, the same thing will happen with your client.

I've had that happen when booking a hotel, it changed dates on me. I was lucky I realized it a few minutes later from their welcome email.

I can imagine, the Ohio tartan was 2 diiferent tartans in my mind, because some pics didn't show the green. On my list is the Michigan State tartan. If I just ordered that, who know what I would get. Perhaps the official tartan of Mich., rather than the tartan of the Michigan State University. (same school colors as EMU)

I seem to recall a large purchase of custom woven PV tartan where the buyer thought that he had asked for a kilt selvedge, but fringe clearly showed on the order sheet. Said buyer was stuck with the fringed stuff, and had to make the best of it. In the end, nobody was particularly happy, but AFAIK all parties (there were many) were able to make the best of it.
This kilt is what he ordered and it fits. I hope that he will come to like it.

I once shipped a kilt to a guy in New jersey and he sent me an email, very distressed, because the kilt was too short for him. He said it was the size he'd ordered but it was too short. He wanted to wear it to a friend's wedding.
I offered to make him another, longer one and have him ship the short kilt back to me.
"No. I'm fed up with the whole thing. Just forget it!"
I kept at him and eventually, he said he'd ship the kilt and I'd make a rush kilt and send it to him.
Well, I made the kilt and rush shipped it ... and never heard back from him, in spite of lots of calls and emails over the next year.
He got two kilts for the price of one and I'm out the cost of one kilt's worth of fabric, labour, and rush shipping.
There are times in business where you simply have to set aside your empathy and simply not give the level of service you'd like to give.
Nowadays, I only give that level of service to repeat customers or people I trust in some other way. I force myself to set aside my natural trust of people and only go on earned trust.

Unfortunately that is far too common these days and too many people will take advantage if given the chance. Gone are the days when a man's (or woman's) word was their bond, even if they miss-spoke or made an error.
