What a great find. I have nothing to add to the good advice you have already received.

Congrats on your find, I hope you can get what you want out of it... and if not... it is a very good keepsake to have...

Hi,
I held it around me as high as I could without putting it on my ribs.
Though, thanks for pointing out that a kilt should be worn quite high. Someone could make a big mistake if they didn't know. I know it now, but I got my Burnside Highschool kilt skirt made a bit too short. I think I must have been wearing it a bit low when I first tried it on. Lucky I had the lady sew a hem on it.
It's tempting, but I won't get the straps let out. I need all the incentive I can get to get fit.
Good point about a hem being more obvious on that thick wool. I think I may just get my own kilt, then. I will talk to a kilt maker. Yes, if I don't wear it, it's still nice to have.

I've never tried them but they do make strap extensions - just leather with a buckle

What a cool find! Forgive me if I'm wrong but because you were talking about skirts for school, I'm assuming you're female. If that's the case, us ladies have so many more length options, you don't really need to get it hemmed.

I'd bet you could find a saddle shop to make you some if you can't find any

No, I'm a guy. I couldn't afford a mans' kilt for my school formal, so I got a school kilt in McKenzie tartan and had it shortened.
