But at the Grand Canyon one can see the edge, not so with posting here. Also the canyon edge could be crumbly so stopping short to admire the view could be "going too far". I'll stop now as I've probably gone to far in my post, after all I've disagreed with an Ensign/Mod .

Well, yeah at any canyon edge or building edge.

The original post was about the penalty box -social discourse and that is what I was posting to. Not sure why the shift in context to the physical.

An example might be teasing a loved one...I'm no fan of teasing but many do...but its easy to tease over the line and get told. Then the teaser knows and hopefully backs off.

Same with posts...we were asked to learn from the posts moved to the penalty box and see where they've gone over the line/boundary. My reference seemed pretty obvious that boundaries in social discourse are found by stepping over them then readjusting.

But for sure I agree about the Grand Canyon. For a good read investigate the book Death in the Grand Canyon...stories of how every person ever to die in the Grand Canyon met their fate. Sometimes boundary issues, sometimes sad fate.

That is true Ron, but after a certain age these "social boundaries" should be more than known to all. That only leaves personal attacks and "troll" like activity, where the only intention is to receive personal attention from the group and sow the seeds of chaos. It is true that we all have opinions, but at some point any poster has to acknowledge that someone can know more on a topic than them. And if one has no knowledge on a topic, then read, enjoy and learn. Butting in and changing the context to gather attention is not how conversations (online or otherwise) naturally evolve.
