yep... I always revert to Ireland when Scotland dont qualify for something - but if they dont qualify either then Im stuck!
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

Because I'd never know who to support...
or there is a phrase in Scotland
"I support Scotland and anyone..."

same for the u.s.; i suppose holding a 0-1 lead for 80 minutes away at the azteca was too much to ask, but even a 1-1 draw would have done nicely.
A 1-1 draw at Azteca would have been a great result... but alas....
all in all, a very forgettable day.

We have a manager who is starting to look like Bertie Voghts and what about the players, a load of second raters who would have never got near a Scotland Team with the likes of Dalglish or Souness about. Even Darren Fletcher is useless when playing with these numpties, he is a good player and benefits from the Man U players around him and Fergie knows how to play him.

Read Paddy Crerand's autobigraphy recently, great player played in Man U's European Cup winning side of 1967 and also played for Celtic and Scotland, came from the Gorbals and now has an Irish passport. Crerand says when they played the national anthems before a Republic of Ireland game he was'nt sure who he should be supporting as his parents were Irish and he felt that he should have been wearing the green of Ireland instead of the dark blue of Scotland.
Anyway the Republic got humped by Australia with Skippy playing for the Aussies but Aiden was suppose to be the Republic's best player.
I suppose it always good to have a home side in the finals as it provides more interest as long as England get humped out in penalties at quarter final or semi final stage

haha. Great Jimmy!
I've not got such a strong Irish connection - just grandparents and g. grandparents but I do feel a wee tiny bit Irish. My teams Scotland though. I'm Scottish through and through (I hope!) - although I do own the new Ireland away top. You may be surprised but I've never owned any SPL shirts... although I did get quite a lot of Celtic merchandise for birthdays off some fanatic family members!
I hope my Scotland top with "No Team GB" on the back is ready for me going to Florida and I'm not much of a book-hugger but I'm sure one of 3 people will have the book that they can pass onto me for a read on the flight
