Some years ago Land's End used to sell several regimental striped ties in wool. The few I remember are the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, and Brigade of Guards. But, as someone pointed out, the stripes aren't as crisp as with silk.

I would be interested in a silk tie. would give me a nice option for the days at work when kilts are out of the question. Working security the kilt is out of the question if I ever have to restrain someone.

I think it would be a very nice tie! Replicate the tartan as a stripe......Brilliant!

I would definitely go for a silk XMarks tie.

Poly? Frankly, I haven't seen a poly tie since hair product was known as "goop."
Now on to important questions.
Print or woven colors?
Please, please, please... pick woven!

Woven silk or wool sounds grand!
Next question is, 'necktie' or bow? I assume that most here are thinking 'necktie'? As for me, I vote for a bow tie.
Superba in southern California is one of the last places in the USA that still makes ties. In the last year, they eliminated their machine tie department, but I believe that they still do their high end hand made ties. I am not sure how small of a run they are willing to do, but I could find out.

Woven silk. Wool is right out, don't even consider it. The stripes won't look as crisp, and wool is a tad too "soft" for any sort of dressy occasion.

You know me, I'm crazy for bow ties but I suspect that's a minority opinion. If its a custom order its got to be a majority decision. I for one can live with that.

I'm on board, as long as the price is reasonable.
