    I really wasn't thinking formal, but more in line with the tweed jacket and vest look - which is rather 19th century-ish anyways, eh? Good, sturdy brogues are quite in line with that look, as it is an "outdoorsy" one primarily, and these are lighter weight civvy shoes, not soldiers' bootees....

    I have a pair of long boots that I wear for 1830's period (John MacGregor and other early TX history events) that were made by Missouri Boot and Shoe. They are of excellent quality and will last forever, probably. A word of caution - Be generous in your self-measurements as my boots are just a bit snug in the ankles, but tolerable without discomfort.
