It is nice to see the youngsters of Edinburgh not conforming with their kilt attire, which is just what they should be doing! They will grow into upright and well dressed kilt wearers in the course of time.
In all seriousness, short socks with the kilt, do look awful!

I agree, I can't go the bare leg thing with a kilt at all.

Amen. And in the words of Forrest Gump, "That's all I got to say about that."
And as a professor said in graduate school, "Rebel while you are young. Act crazy. Do not conform. You have the rest of your life to come to your senses."

More kilts than I would ordinarily expect to see in Edinburgh!
I think I would have gone into the shop and told them off for the back to front display!

Not that I want to defend them, but I think they do that so they can show off the unique design of the kilt which would be impossible to see if it was being worn properly. I've seen some shops display their rampant lion designs in the same way.

That still leads to the possibility of some ignorant tourist buying it and wearing it that way around - I have actually seen them trying on ordinary tartans in these shops with the pleats at the front and not be corrected by staff.

Good to see kilts being worn in the 'wild' as it were - thanks for posting, Alex.
Regards
Chas
