We had this thing in the Navy, where thieves who had been caught could be identified quickly..not going into it, but it involves a hatch door and their hand.

On the bright side, stuff ultimately doesn't matter and stuff can always be replaced.

I have a few items that are family heirlooms, and as long as they are okay, I couldnt care about any of the other stuff.

The safe, empty, weighs just under 1000 pounds. They tried to pry it open with, progressively, a shower curtain rod, a fireplace poker, and a commando knife.
