Here are some combinations of jacket styles and fabric choices I don't care for:

    OCRichard:
The first two are something else.

I like the purple jacket just not so much with that tartan and I think the white jacket would look very good in a formal setting.

That purple Argyle wouldn't look bad with a tartan such as Isle of Skye, but with Buchanan modern? Ugh!

And as to the "rainbow" Prince Charlie... one could only hope that anyone who decides to wear such a thing does so with full knowledge that they are looking ridiculous and hams it up accordingly!

    This Just In

Josh has sent me a pic of my red PC, which looks perfect. It might be a good time for everyone to practice their obsequious replies and bowing and scraping. Very soon, I WILL RULE THE WORLD....

My dear dear chap this really will not do! I am sorry to cause upset to your plan of ruling the world, but to avoid any future misunderstandings and misconceptions that you may have, let me state quite categorically that I rule this bit of the world and I would take great exception if your plans include my bit of Scotland. Let me also mention in passing, that from this date forward, anyone seen wearing a red kilt jacket(HM forces excepted), in this part of the world, will be shot on first sight and if practicable, questioned afterwards

Did I mention that it is kevlar?

I will be sending a few of my stunt doubles to the highlands first, just to see how good a shot Jock is.

I never dreamed how complicated it is to rule the world- scheduling, protocol, feeding the sharks periodically, etc. You would not believe how hard it is to get pirhanas these days.

And, contrary to what they show on TV, the really smart girls don't always have the best fashion sense, much less the requisite shooting skills. If I didn't have to micromanage, I'd already be running things.

Yes indeed with that purple jacket it seems like they went out of their way to find the most garishly contrasting kilt possible.

Now about that "rainbow" or Harlequin PC, I actually started a tongue-in-cheek thread on a bagpiping forum entitled "which tartan goes best with this PC?" and I got a range of resposes. One resourceful guy actually created a tartan using all of the colours present in the PC and it wasn't as strange as one might think.

Don't forget you have to have sharks with frickin' lasers on their heads! OR at least mutant sea bass...

You know, it's not at all traditional, but I like it. I'm also a fan of 5 button waistcoats with a PC. To my eye it just looks better. (I've never been a fan of too much shirt showing.)
But I think this is one of those garments where we say 'To each his own.'

Maclowlife... your Red PC will be no match for the Regency inspired Kilt outfit I am working on.

It will combine a jacket like this:

    And a vest like this:

And I will be sooooo dapper.

    ...And the kilt? Which one?

MacLowlife.....you'de better not come within a mile of Star Valley. Us McMurdos have a massive stash of dynomite, .50 caliber rifles and ammo, and other fun toys (as in it took 4 trucks several trips to remove it all from my late father-in-law's house and we're out of room in our 900 square foot basement) but if you dare...our house is the one with the concrete bench and 1000 yard range next to it.

    Tehehe.
