Having hunted waterfowl over the best breed ever, Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, I have had the inevitable misfortune of having two die. We spend so much time with our pets, that they become our closest friends. They know all our secrets, idiosyncrasies, faults, and just plain silliness. They love us all the more for them.

Dee,
As a pet lover myself, I understand what you are going through and can only say I'm sorry for your loss.
In theory there is no difference between theory and practice but in practice there is.

I know what you are going through. Our basset hounds made the final journey last year -- the house still seems so empty without them.

Dee
As I said in our messages to each other, both you and Ron have my deepest sympathy. Have a safe trip home.

You have my sympathy. From experience, I know that your house will seem uncomfortably quiet and will not feel quite right for a while. I hope in time that your memories will be a comfort. My first dog died in 1987 at the age of 17; I still miss him and keep his tags in the bottom of my jewelry box, and I now enjoy the memories that I have of him.

My heartfelt condolences.
This past September our cat, Alice, passed. She lived a long and storied life, and was a presence in my life for 25 years. Yep, she lived to be 25! I first met her when she was just 2 1/2 weeks old, brought her home a few weeks later...

I am so sorry to hear this. My heart goes out to you, Dee. I also have a 16-y/o diabetic cat who I've had since he was 6 weeks old.

Dee, I am so, so sorry to hear this. The passing of a pet is always so much more heartbreaking when you cannot be with them to say goodbye.
I'll keep you and Beau in my thoughts.

I too would like to extend my sympathies to you for the loss of your beloved pet. They become such a part of our lives they no longer are just animals, but a member of the family. Their passing leaves such a big hole in our hearts it is hard to realize they truly are gone. Take a deep breath, honor their memory and let go. One day the hurt will be gone. Again, thoughts and prayers are with you.
