We spend so much time with our pets, that they become our closest friends. They know all our secrets, idiosyncrasies, faults, and just plain silliness. They love us all the more for them.

I know what you are going through. Our basset hounds made the final journey last year -- the house still seems so empty without them.

You have my sympathy. From experience, I know that your house will seem uncomfortably quiet and will not feel quite right for a while. I hope in time that your memories will be a comfort. My first dog died in 1987 at the age of 17; I still miss him and keep his tags in the bottom of my jewelry box, and I now enjoy the memories that I have of him.
