You could always get a long pair and then have the option of either of two looks for any occasion simply by swapping out the laces.
I would have to agree. Get the long laces as well, and you can easily change between the two looks.
Great outfit by the way! The brown ghillies look great with the safran kilt. Oh, and I have to say I really love your Argyle! It's a bit difficult to see with the glare from the flash, so what color and material is that? To me it looks like a kind of "suit-material" and not your typical tweed or barathea..
I believe, though, that you've tied 'em with a "granny knot."
I'm a pharmacist, not a sailor.... I don't know any other knots. Heh heh.
As for the jacket, I'm not really sure what the material is. This is the link I got it from. They call it tweed, but it's way "smoother" than any tweed I've known. It's made by House of Edgar, but I can't find any info on their site other than that it's 100% wool.
For the design on my sporran, I got Donnie from Wyvern to do a custom job for me. It's based on the crest of the coat of arms of Canada. Which is also on the flag of the Governor general.
I like it, it's got that heraldic lion imagery (Scotland's rampant lion....) that's on everything .... but with a distinctive Canadian flair.
