I suppose once a year or once every two years if you're wearing it enough to warrant this is sensible. But certainly not after a week's worth of wearing, unless you've fallen into a muddy puddle with it.
As yours is, my guide would be to wash it when it needs it. Thus far, any woolen clothing I've worn has never needed washing. I don't think so. Not that I can remember, anyway. Mind you, I very rarely go into places where people smoke and I spend most of my time indoors. Oh, the exception to that would be woolen kilt hose. This is part of the reason I gave up wearing my kilt. The hose would shrink so easily. I was hand washing them, by the way.
