Now that is a very sharp outfit! You look good Ian, thanks for sharing!

Very nice!
The grey is great, breaking up all that black and red.
When I first saw that kilt I was thinking a light Lovat Blue, I think they call it "ancient blue", for the jacket and hose... I wonder what that would look like.

Thanks! You can't tell from the photo, but the waistcoat and jacket are actually a tweed that hovers between tan and gray, with some blue bits thrown in for good measure. I just converted them from a three-piece suit last week, specifically to go with this kilt.
Sunday I wore the same outfit, but with a black tie and charcoal hose.
Sadly, I am now temporarily out of clean hose that seem to go with this kilt.
Lovat blue, you say? That's something to consider. I have the hose already ...

I really like the gray look that comes through on the monitor. Never would have thunk it. Thanks!!

You look great, Iain. Congratulations on the new kilt. I know it's already been said, but I also like the color combination you've chosen. You have a nice look going here. ![Clap](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/clap.gif)
I'm not sure I can offer any helpful advice on the sporran vs. waistcoat length issue you mentioned. My experience with a needle and thread is generally confined to replacing lost buttons and trying not to sew them to my thumbs.

I'd say the waistcoat is too long...there's a couple of ways to fix it...depending on how it fits you. If you have ample room in the armholes, the easiest way would be to take it in at the shoulders by folding in about an inch each out of the back lining and the front material. If the upper part of it fits the body perfectly and you can't take it in at the shoulders, You'll have to shorten the bottom...which is a much more difficult prospect...though any tailor/alterations place should be able to do so.

I second all the compliments so far. My first impression was "Wow. What a nice color contrast! And the tie finishes it off well."
Just one request, could we see an identical photo without the sporran?

the jacket and waistcoat look great i reckon get the waistcoat trimmed to the 4th button and thatll be that,
i also think a nice pair of diced or tartan hose and grey garters would look great with that setup

Well, not to start the bottom button fasten or not debate, but try the sporran slightly lower and the last button not fastened. See what you think.
