Is there a MacDonald of Kintyre branch ? I'm aware of MacDonald of Largie, on West Kintyre's coast, but MacDonald of Kintyre sounds more historical than current ?

You'd more or less be correct. The Islay & Kintyre branch was known as Clan Donald South, also known as Dunnyveg and The Glens, or Clann Iain Mhor. The last chief died in 1626.

    Correcting a not-so-minor error

The current MacDonell of the Glens (Count Randal MacDonnell of the Glens) resides in Tangier, in the Kingdom of Morocco. Born in Dublin, he succeeded his father in both the chiefship and comital title in (as I recall) 1975. He retired to Morocco about three years ago and divides his time between Dublin, Prague, and Tangier. The heir-presumptive to the title is the count's brother, Count Peter MacDonnell, who resides in Paris.

Is this the Earl of Antrim or someone altogether different?

    Thanks Matt

Just curious, how different is the Wilson's colours from what we normally see?
Do you have a visual reference available you could share?

Peter may or may not have samples of the MacDonald tartan woven in Wilsons' colors which he can scan. I don't have any of the MacDonald tartan on hand, but to give you a visual reference, here is the Carolina tartan woven in typical modern colors.

Here is that same tartan woven in typical ancient colors.

(Both of those samples were woven by Lochcarron, at different times, by the way).

Here is a photo of a sample of the Carolina tartan which Peter hand wove in reproduction Wilsons of Bannockburn colors.

Lastly, here is a kilt and plaid made from cloth we had woven in those same Wilsons' colors.

Of all the colors schemes typically commerically available, House of Edgar's "muted" comes closest to Wilsons' old dye recipes.

    Thanks Matt

I really like the example you gave. If Peter has a scan of the MacDonald version I hope you'll post it here.

By-the-by, just now received the Keppoch tartan swatches in the mail.
    Thanks again!

I'll be home at the end of the week and will get one organised asap.
