Fortunately - there were no photos of the mounting process....That was some ACTION!

Don't worry, Ron, Xenophon explains it in his treatise, "On Horsemanship."
Just saying...
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

figured it'd be appropriate for my first post to be in a thread like this. been lurking the site and gleaning useful tidbits of info to make my kilts. Love wearing these things even if i'm most likely not scottish at all :P
This is me attempting "Problem" or "Project" (i think that was the name of the thing...), a v9 problem at my favorite bouldering spot in Truckee, California (my hometown) in my Xkilt No. 2 in some wool blend. Best material i've ever worked with and it holds the pleats like steel.

Have to admit i was cheating and was not going regimental for the sake of my climbing partners.

That right will not be available to those units without the "Freedom of the(particular) City".
No doubt The Atholl Highlanders have that right (perhaps in Perth?) , or they would not be doing it. Or, Queen Victoria(?) may have granted them the right to do so for some reason that I am unaware of. Make no mistake, it is a honour for a particular unit to be allowed to do so.
To further Jock's comments, one regiment, the King's Own Scottish Borderers if I remember correctly, was given permission to march with bayonets fixed and colours flying through Edinburgh, on any day "save Sunday". The custom is a throwback to ancient Rome, if I remember correctly, when no Roman Legion was allowed to enter the eternal city for fear of a military coup.

My Submissions
These are the only two 'kilts in action' shots that I found thus far. They are of me dancing the Highland Fling at a local Burns Night celebration in 2009. Enjoy.![Very Happy](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
