Brilliant!! I just looked up the New Mexico tartan, of which there are 2! Having been born there, I just may have to start saving my pennies again...

Riverkilt’s pictures of the late Retro Red (sadly I did not have the pleasure of knowing the gentleman) are doubly interesting because of the way the kilt’s colours so completely complement Red’s hair.
As for that Four Corners idea, I can’t wait to see the pictures (and make sure there are wearers of both New Mexico tartans, neither of them in NM!).

I have just started my kilt #4 (F&K 16oz Maple leaf, pleated to the green stripe) as a run-up to doing the clan tank of my dreams from the Dalglish. I could not be more pleased with Dalglish

Ya, a couple of years back I was planning on selling my place, and moving up there to Colorado, not too far from the Four Corners area. Then, you know... the economy and real estate market went...
SPLAT!!
I wasn't sure which New Mexico tartan is the official one, but I thought I had read somewhere that Kathy Lare offers one of them. Turns out that isn't the official NM state tartan.

Then I figured out my ancient roots aren't... Scottish

Need to pinch me pennies; personally I like the 2522 that I believe Kathy has right to... too bad it does not have one more red strand, then the cross would look like a Zia symbol. But given Native American sentiments, the two crossing threads look great. The colors are very reminiscent of the Acoma ribbon shirts.

As an update, this kilt is now in Southwest Missouri, and will soon be worn by my father, who was born in Prescott. Pictures to follow...

My first and only tank was a special weave by Dalgliesh, in the MacDonagh tartan. It was hand sewn for me by Wallace Catanach, of Waterfallkilts, located in State College, PA (yes, home to Penn State). Wally is a superb kilt maker, so I trust his judgment that the Dalgliesh material was the best he had ever worked with. Amen!!!
