I have a pair of jungle boots that I ordered from Ranger Joes. They do the job.

For a work/ranch/snake-handlin'/deer hunting boot I go with a pair of brown Irish Setters (lace up about 8") High quality boot I've owned for years and wear very often,
For a hiking boot- I go with Asolos Mountain boot. Again I've owned them for about 10 years and they are just now getting good and broke in
The only advice I would ever give anyone about boots is about the soles. I highly recommend any brand of boot that has a Vibram sole. They will last a LOT longer and will wear more comfortably (in my opinion) than any other.

I just wear the same 8in Bates uniform boots I wear with everything else (even the pa*** I wear to court, shorts I used to wear in the summer, and BDUs on deployment) Sometimes in the summer, I do wear brown leather sandals.

There's boots, and there's BOOTS.
Absolute all-time favorites, the Corcoran BROWN cap-toe jump boot:

Built pretty much the same way since c1942 (mine made in Martinsburg, PA).
Cushioning? What?
Lugs? BAH!
Zipper? Huh?
Leather, rubber, nails, thread. All killer, no filler.
For daily wear, same thing, only black, lugged, & zippered:

Got both in 2002. Black ones resoled once, Brown going strong.
Find power in peace,

The black pair looks something like what I was issued back in 1967, I have a brand new pair that I left the Army with. Going to look into digging them out, mine do not have the zipper.

I braved the snow at the house of bruar on the A9 in Perthshire yesterday to get some smoked venison.
In there I saw some rich oxblood, heavily pebbled brogue boots, about 8inches high lacing to eyelets then hooks. Thems the babies I fancy with my kilt.

I have these Docs in kelly and they go nicely with my ancient Mackay.

I like these too, but it seems from the website that they're only available in women's sizes.

Yes I know that a UK8 is equivalent to a US men's 9 or a US woman's 10 but they seemed quite narrow when I saw them IRL

I have a pair of black, ankle-high hiking boots from Skecher that I like to wear...
(That is me on the right in the red)
and also in that saffron yellow suede work boot of similar cut...
...for a 'tank'
and contemporary
And then I rather like these tall ones on my ex BF...
Though I doubt those would look good on me without the proper accessories... but that is another discussion altogether.

Rex---you've got style! I can't wait for my beard and mustache to turn grey!
My boot selection--easy. I still wear the style I was issued in 1984!

That's what I told him too a while back!
As to the beard, I'd just be happy if mine was one colour.
It's near black from ear to the chin and reddish from the mustache down to the chin. Also, due to some old scars, my left cheek is really patchy, so I end up having to trim it to a band that stops about 2" up from the jaw line. It's better for me to just go clean shaven...
