Thankyou all for your kind comments. It is the first sporran I have of a lighter brown colour, and as some of you have said, it goes well with the Maclaren ancient.
I went out shortly after the photos were taken and was stopped by an englishman who was on holidays from the old country. The first thing he asked was as were I had got the replica of Prince Charles sporran. He was amazed at my response and heaped praise on the maker (Artificer). He was a very knowledgable Royalist and we had quite a long talk about England and Scotland.

Fantastic!
I'm sure this made for a happy afternoon, I know it just made my day.

My congratulations to both Mike (the wearer) and Artificer (the maker).
But Mike, haven’t you got a pair of brown shoes to go with the sporran?
Regards,
Mike

Yes Mike, I have several pairs of brown bogues, but having read comments from the highland laddies on this forum in relation to traditional dress, I thought I would try out the black footwear with the brown accoutrements for a while. It will be interesting to get comments from fellow kilt wearers here in Australia. As in the US, we are a very "matching society", yet I have noticed at many of our highland games, some older gentlemen wearing black shoes with the brown belts and sporran. Just thought I would give it a try.

I think the black shoes with brown leathers look quite smart on you Downunder.
I'm naturally inclined to be a 'matcher' as well, but have been working toward the freedom of black brogues/boots with brown sporran & straps.
