I see widespread coverage of the pope wearing a greenish tartan scarf as he rode around in his popemobile. But I'm having a hard time finding a good photo on the web to identify the tartan of the scarf. Was that the tartan Matt designed?

Choir members at the mass in Glasgow wore sashes of Matt's tartan. And a number of kilts were worn by members of the congregation.

Curse this thing called employment! And they grumble about bandwidth and don't allow TVs to be held in the lap here either! I wonder if the event will be rebroadcast in the colonies at a more colonial-friendly hour? Surely it will?

I did a Google Image search ("papal tartan") and found one image with what looks like a sash with this new Papal tartan:

After a preliminary search, I found this website that seems to be streaming footage from the Papal visit:

on Radio Scotland this morning the owner of the company which made the tartan was faired chuffed that the Pope wore the scarf round his shoulders as he travelled down Princes Street in the popemobile, he says that he has already several hundred requests for various items in this tartan, unfortunately no mention of Matt
Highland Cathedral was also played by Strathclyde Police Pipe Band at Bellahouston , Glasgow yesterday

the tartan scarf was nearly a no go`er it was the cardinal who had to place it round the pope before he popped into his popemobile

and a wee snippet again with a mention for matt

and from that story it seems they have plenty of calls for the tartan i do hope they remember who designed it when its for sale and which charity's should get the proceeds

I'm just back in the states yesterday after two weeks away, with sporadic internet access, so I see I have just about 2000 posts to look at here!
But I did want to just say thanks for all the comments, and yes, I am very proud that the tartan I designed was so well received. I have been inundated with requests for the tartan, and I can now confirm that Ingles Buchan, the Glasgow company who wove the tartan, has plans to weave it again. I've set up a page already in the museum's gift shop catalog to allow pre-orders.

Products should be ready to ship in November, according to Ingles Buchan. And yes, you can also order by the yard, including kilt weight!
