[QUOTE=As to the Watson tartan, it was designed in 1932 by the Rev. Mhuir Watson of Glamis Church (apparently). This means it predates the Nova Scotia tartan by a couple of decades.[/QUOTE]

Another legend debunked, thanks for the correction.

Here is a link that might interest you. It show what the Watson tartan looks like. It is a really great looking tartan one in which I have a 16oz 8 yard kilt made in.

At my wedding, I carried a sash in the tartan that I was wearing. After we exchanged rings but before we smooched, I placed the sash over my new bride's shoulder. I believe that it went from right shoulder to left hip.
We received many positive comments about that from several of the attendees. We did not do any research on this, we just thought it would be cool.

We did that at our wedding. My dad pinned (using a brooch) a folded sash (a scarf, essentially) on my wife.

If someone is going to do something with a pin, consider the wedding dress and the mechanics of what the pin will attach to, especially if it's something that is part of the ceremony, instead of the dressing room. Use images.google.com for "wedding dress" if you don't get what I'm saying...

Much thanks to everyone who's replied so far. I do have one more little question. Any recommendations on how to wear the sash with a strapless dress? I've found "the one" but there aren't sleeves or straps to fasten a brooch to.

Also, M.A.C. Newsome, thank you for the little tidbit on the Watson tartan! My grandpa will be interested to know about that.
