I hope one of your instructors never accepted the line that "Wikipedia is usually pretty close to the truth." It's getting better, but it's still no substitute for a good library.

I don't recommend trusting wikipedia articles themselves, but sometimes they can be quite useful for finding ACTUAL source documents... (check the links near the bottom of a decent wikipedia article) Wikipedia is usually pretty good about flagging things right at the top when source documents aren't sited.....
Indeed. Some Wiki articles have very decent sources. The theory was good, but the practice still leaves a lot to be desired.

I have heard the same first part of the tale before, except it was in another country, where the man fleeing for his life was given water and a peach to eat, and so was protected by the ancient duty of a host.

Never letting the facts get in the way of a good story is no bad thing as long as it does no harm.

    The Truth of the Matter...

Since MacGregor of MacGregor will be the honoured chief at the Greenville Scottish Games in 2011, why don't you come on down to South Carolina over the Memorial Day weekend ask the man yourself?
