I love that you addressed the issue. I fear I may have packed up early and went home stewing mad about those fools. I think that by going head to head with your hecklers you turned it into a positive encounter. You won't look back and think I dont want to wear a kilt today I don't feel like being heckled like last time. You won't even think about it because you don't allow the unsaid to eat your confidence.
A lesson learned for me I think.

Last November our niece came back this way while she was on leave from her ship and we met up with her and some of her friends at Charleston. Quickly after meeting up with her we realized that we had left her gift in the car and I went back the few blocks to go and get it. As I was returning to the resturant, two college aged young couples walked across the street about a block up from where I was in my path of walking. the young ladies noticed the kilt and one waved. Their escorts were a bit put off by this and one let out a loud wolf whistle. I quickly returned the whistle which slowed them down. As I got closer, I stated: (to him) "Thank you for the whistle! Unfortunately, I only date women. (to her) Excuse me, Miss, at what time might I come to call upon you for an evening of delight and debauchery!" The ladies and the gent who hadn't whistled busted up with laughter and my whistling friend just got red faced. I'm sure that he'll be ribbed about that for quite a while.

I always wear my kilts at events ( Triathlons ) and like others here get some ribbing from the younger 'sprint' guys, untill they see the back of the T shirt I wear with my kilt, "Triple Ironman Finisher", kinda wipes the smile off their face when they find out I have a world ranking.
