Re: Fourty, Here I come!
Happy Birthday! I turn 40 on Sunday. So far I don't feel any different than yesterday. I'll let you know if anything changes in six days...

Happy Birthday! I remember that milestone (some 14 years ago). An old college friend of mine had a coffee mug that read: "Act like 20, feel like 60, must be 40!" May the big 4-0 be better to you!

Re: Fourty, Here I come!
Ah, forty. It can be a good time, so congrats!!.
I still remember what I did for my own fortieth -- spent the weekend up north a bit at Harbin Hot Springs. (One of those "clothing optional" places where, given the option, most go for total freedom.) It was a favorite weekend spot in the days when I was, as we now say about jobs, "between wives".
One of the things I did was run across the valley and scramble up to the ridgeline on top of the mountains on the other side, going for the minimum time I could manage. Feeling quite proud of myself, I took my time getting down.
Then a couple of hours soaking alternately in the hot and cold pools, with longer times hanging out in the warmer one. Then dinner. Then back to the warm pool, where I ended up giving a sort of "floating massage" to a 22-year-old lass I met there which in about half an hour led to other things. . .
. . .In the midst of which she mentioned that she was there that weekend with her (single) mother, whom I. . .um, made a point of meeting the next morning and, well. . .
Gad. Looking back I can scarce believe the licentious young rakehell I still was at 40. Thankfully that was 21 years ago and, while thanks to a new hip I could today perform all the same physical feats, I like to think that I now have a more evolved perspective where some matters are concerned.

How Roman of you, Dale.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

Unfortunately the Roman numerals for 40 are XL Very true in my case ... it is when your waist measurement swaps with your age !!!!!! Your head sucks in all your hair and pushes it out through your ears and nose but it does get better now that I am 21 again with another 42 years experience.
Happy Birthday

Must be hysterical amnesia...just remembered: Spent part of my 40th birthday getting an emergency root canal. Hope your day went better. (Just remember to brush and floss regularly, and see your dentist at least once a year!)
