Re: My new official kilt shoe
I'd love to own a pair to replace my well-worn Vasque Sundowners.
Too bad I require a 14 A.

They seem surprisingly heavy and clunky at first; they do in that sense take a little breaking in. As far as fit and comfort on the foot are concerned, though, they're very comfortable right from the get-go and I've done a fair bit of "light hiking" in them.

Black is so banal. Brown has so much more character and it looks great among crunchy autumn leaves!

Darn my wide feet. The 'ideal' sizing for me (9 1/2-3E) is not available in neither the Gaffney, nor the Hawley. From experience, I need to use thick, cushioned inserts if I go with 10-D Florsheims. Even when wearing kilt hose.

Yeah, but nothing beats a shiny pair of BLACK leather boots.

Sounds very nice, beloitpiper.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

I like the look too, and have a pair of Rockports that are close to needing replaced. Maybe buy the shoes and a brown sporran finds it's way onto my Christmas list.

Nick ,
A bottle of leather dye will make a brown shoe black.

Well you could find yourself in my boat. Just realized they don't even make them in my size (15). Guess I do have a belt sander downstairs, wonder what a 1/4 of an inch off the front of my toes would do as far as walking???
