Re: Stillwater kilts without a post?
I wish I knew what these "holy laws" of clan affiliation are regarding adoption. My father was adopted into the henderson line. I can't remember what these rules say about that.
I know familial rules are very different between Alba and Brittony.

Being adopted/taken in to the fold, or affiliation by sworn allegiance and duty to defend, was the probity of the ACTUAL clan system and it's true purpose. It developed primarily as a territorial and warrior based organization for the protection and self preservation of the whole. There was not always a blood relation between all parties involved within each "tribe".
I would say that your father has every right to wear the Henderson tartan regardless of the modern mumbo jumbo bureaucracy that some would inflict.

Cheers to Jerry and Stillwater kilts! I might not have gotten into kilting if not for Stillwater. Great looking and very good quality!

Re: Stillwater kilts without a post?
My first kilt was a SWK heavyweight. I purchased it last year and notice they have "new" models for 2012. As to what the difference is, I can't say. Regardless, for the price, they're fantastic.
I've also picked up 3 kilts from an ebay store Tartan4Less. They're 5 yard, 16 oz wool and I spent 79.00 GBP on 2 of them and 99.00 GBP on 1 of them. That's around $150.00 - $200.00 and I'm VERY pleased with them. As I posted yesterday, as soon as the Lindsay (mom's side) shows up, I'll post pics.
Regards!
Nothing says, "I love you" like a sporran full of haggis!!

Interesting idea. Any photos of what you did...

From what I understand, the newer kilts from Stillwater have the fell cut out like a conventional kilt, so you aren't left with a lot of bulk around the waistband.
Have fun and throw far. In that order, too. - o1d_dude

That they do! I'm actually wearing my 2012 model stillwater heavyweight in saffron right now, the only thing I had to do was to adjust the first pleat or two on the left side to prevent curling.
Kilts, because some men need the extra room, and some men wear pants.

Jerry is "Speedy Delivery Man!" Customer service is top notch.
My 1st kilt was a standard. Then I purchased two more in heavy weight. Finally, a saffron. Plus, I have a few other accessories from SWK. I'll keep returning to SWK!!!!

I love SW. I have a couple of acrylics that I wear around the house daily, though I will not wear them outside. I love their wools also. My only complaint is that they don't carry a larger selection of wool.
