Re: Just a thought....
I select only purses that have, at minimum, a divider and one or two interior pockets -- along the lines of some bespoke sporrans we've seen here. No matter how cute, I refuse to subject myself to any purse that is just one big bag of lostness! I don't understand how other women can live with 'em.

Re: Just a thought....
Here we have the classic definition challenge in the english language. A purse in Australia is the equivalent of a mens wallet to keep cash and credit cards in, yet in the US I believe it refers to what we call is a ladies handbag.
In relation to the similarities of a sporran and a ladies handbag in getting things lost therein, I would say that the ladies handbag wins hands down.

Re: Just a thought....
The truth is that what you are looking for knows you are looking for it and it avoids your grasp by jumping behind other objects when your hand goes in the bag
I think someone needs to design a sporran with a tumbling internal compartment with a crank on the outside - at least you'll keep those items inside from knowing where up or down will be and ruin their schemes of avoiding being found.
(this thread made me think of a weird idea for an animated short film ... the items inside the sporran all are animated with faces and talk to one another when the sporran is closed - they're complaining about always being taken out and being blinded by the sudden glaring sun when the sporran is opened - perhaps they are planning a great escape ...then you hear this voice from far below ... the shoes complain "at least you don't have to stare up his kilt all day")
Ok, hopefully someone else has as weird s sense of humour as me

Re: Just a thought....
I find this especially true for coins. Someday I will get something to contain them. (I've said that for a couple of years now!)
My sporran is fairly organized and its contents limited, but my wife's purse may one day be an archaeological site. I only went in there once, with permission of course, and discovered the hard way that she had a compass in there. Not a "find your way out of the woods" compass, but a "draw arcs, circles and massive amounts of blood" compass. Apparently discipline dished out by teachers in Catholic schools has moved way beyond the smack with a ruler.
To this day I'm clueless about what's in there, but by its weight I know there's a lot of it and it must be more valuable than what's in my sporran because I have yet to set booby traps to protect it. I fear that one day it will have first-strike capabilities.
The grass is greener on the other side of the fence...and it's usually greenest right above the septic tank.

I find that I am enjoying this thread way more than should be allowed by law!

Re: Just a thought....
A kilt with cargo pockets will likely be the next one purchased. Praise forbid we begin using sporrans the size of many ladies' purses.
